Research study trips: since 1953 frequent research study trips to Portugal.
1962-1975 several trips to India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to study Indian English dialect(s) and Creole Portuguese, as well as, 1969 a trip to Graz, Austria, and 1967-1974 several trips to England for the same purpose. 1986 Basque studies in Spain. 1984, 1987-1994 several trips to Finland. 1988 trip to the Cape Verde Islands. 1990 trip to Turkey, 1988/1989 trip to Japan (workshop on oral interpretation). 1990 trip to Jakarta, Indonesia.

Lectures: 1990 and 1991 in Brazil, since 1991 several times in Austria,
1991-1994 in Spain, 1992 and 1994 in Slovenia, 1993 and 2001 in Mexico,
1993 and 1994 in Venezuela, 1994 and 1995 in the Czech Republic,
1994 and 2002 in Croatia, 1995 in Graz, Austria, 1995 and 1998 in Slovenia,
